17 Bad Skin Habits

Hai guys. I am very concern of my skin and try anything to keep take care of it. I found these few tips and I think these might be useful. ^^.

1. Skipping Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen
The best way to keep your skin from getting wrinkled, saggy, and speckled is sunscreen, SPF 30 at the minimum. Broad-spectrum formulas (meaning they shield against both UVA and UVB rays) with Mexoryl or Helioplex offer the longest-lasting protection. (We like Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 and La Roche-Posay Anthelios 40.) Apply a whole tablespoon to your face, and the equivalent of a shot glass on your body. For workdays, reapply before your commute home if the sun is still out—even if you'll be in a car. And for days when you'll be outside for an extended period of time, reapply every two hours. We know it's a pain, but come on—you'll get the last laugh instead of the first laugh lines.

2. Smoking
Like you need another reason to quit? Seriously—it's time. Because if you keep smoking, you'll not only damage your health, but you'll develop more and more deep wrinkles and blotchier skin tone. In fact, every decade of smoking results in a perceived extra 2.5 years of age, according to research published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

3. Drinking Too Much
Now, we're not taking away all your fun—you can still have a glass of something. But drink more than one cocktail a day, and your skin suffers. Alcohol increases the level inflammatory agents in the bloodstream—"which can hasten skin sagging over time," says Fredric Brandt, a dermatologist in New York City and Coral Gables, Florida.

4. Picking the Wrong Products
Using stuff that's wrong for your skin type is a hugely common mistake, says Miami dermatologist Leslie Baumann, author of The Skin Type Solution (Bantam). Here's what you should know:

OILY SKIN: Choose a cleanser with salicylic acid, such as Bioré Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser. Fight shine with an oil-free lotion, such as Vichy Laboratoires NormaDerm Pro Mat Oil-Free Lotion SPF 15, followed by a mattifying serum that contains aluminum silica, such as Smashbox Anti-Shine Anti-Brilliance. Rub on a chemical exfoliant such as glycolic acid once a week. Try Avon Anew Clinical Advanced Retexturizing Peel.

SENSITIVE SKIN: Wash with a milky cleanser such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. Use a fragrance-free, nonirritating sunscreen such as Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion SPF 15 Sensitive Skin. Look for anti-aging creams with added hydrators such as hyaluronic acid and shea butter, like Replenix Serum CF and Estée Lauder Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme SPF 15.
COMBINATION SKIN: Choose a foaming cleanser for oily skin. Use a lightweight moisturizer, like H20+ Face Oasis Plus Hydrating Fluid SPF 15, but dab a thicker one, like Origins Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Cream, on dry spots.

RY SKIN: Nonsoap creamy cleansers, like Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, don't strip away protective oils. A moisturizer with trehalose, such as Shiseido The Skincare Day Moisture Protection SPF 15 or Clinique Superdefense Triple Action Moisturizer SPF 25 for Dry/ Combination Skin, will prevent tightness. Apply an anti-aging treatment with retinol every other day (daily use could aggravate dryness). Or switch to a cream with kinetin or the Matrixyl—they're less drying than retinoids.

5. Ignoring Your Neck and Chest
Skin care doesn't stop at your jawline. "These areas are almost always exposed, and yet they rarely receive same level of hydration and sun protection as the face. But the skin there is more delicate and just as vulnerable to photoaging," says Los Angeles dermatologist Howard Fein. The fix is simple: The next time you apply serum, face cream, or sunscreen or give yourself an exfoliating treatment, extend everything down to your décolletage.

6. Overlooking Moles
A study conducted by the National Cancer Institute showed that fifty percent more melanoma cases occurred in women ages 15 to 39 in 2004 than in 1980. The lesson here? Everyone needs to get a mole screening with a dermatologist once a year—and you should also check yourself every month, remembering to examine less-obvious places such as your scalp, the soles of your feet, and under your nails. Look at the American Academy of Dermatology's guidelines here. Even if your moles pass the test, don't underestimate the power of gut instinct: "If you look at something twice," says Philadelphia dermatologist Eric Bernstein, "show it to a dermatologist."

7. Using Dirty Makeup Brushes
Eh, why bother, you think. Here's why: Skip washing your brushes and you could wind up with muddied colors, clogged pores, and bacterial infections. Once every three weeks, lather brushes with a gentle shampoo such as Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, rinse well, and let them dry overnight or use wipes, such as Japonesque Pro Brush Cleaner Wipes. Another option: Clinique Antibacterial Brush collection—they're treated with a microbial solution that destroys germs. (You still have to wash them, but only about once a month.)

8. Constant Phone Chatter
Resting your chin or cheek against a phone—cell or old-school—can lead to breakouts, whether or not the phone is clean and bacteria-free. "Just leaning your face against it can cause friction, occlusion, and heat, all of which can make you break out," says Bay Area dermatologist Katie Rodan. If your chatting habit is too ingrained to shake, consider a headset.

9. Overexfoliating
Sorry—while squeaky-clean pores may initially feel good, "harsh cleansing or too much exfoliating can actually exacerbate oil production and worsen breakouts by spreading bacteria," Fein says. A gentle alternative: Use a glycolic peel, such as Avon Anew Clinical Advanced Retexturizing Peel, three times a week.

10. Staying Up Late
"Sleep deprivation causes stress, which can aggravate all skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis," says Karyn Grossman, a dermatologist in Santa Monica and New York City. "Sleep is also the time when your body repairs the damage from the day, and interrupting that process will slow down cell turnover." In the short term, this can mess with the way blood flows to the skin, which can make your complexion sallow.

11. Not Washing Your Face at Night
Letting skin marinate in makeup—not to mention a day's worth of oil buildup—can lead to clogged pores and zits, especially if you're prone to acne. "Your body temperature increases slightly when you sleep, which can enhance absorption of whatever's on the surface," says Rodan. "So you really want only beneficial ingredients on your face when you sleep."

12. Eating Junk Food
Conventional wisdom used to be that diet didn't affect your complexion. But sorry—no more. A study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that people who replaced processed carbs with high-protein foods and whole grains broke out less. The reason? "High-glycemic foods cause your blood sugar to rise, triggering a surge of insulin. The insulin stimulates oil-producing hormones called androgens, leaving you with pimples," says Baumann. Cut the junk, and you could see an improvement in acne in about six weeks. Instead, reach for snacks like peanut butter, nuts, and avocado—these healthy fats provide nutrients for the hair, skin, nails, and basic metabolism.

13. Neglecting Your Eyes
Not only is the skin around your eyes thinner than practically anywhere else on the body, it's also the victim of a lot of abuse. First, resolve to stop rubbing. "Every time you do, you risk breaking delicate blood vessels, which leads to darkening, dulling, and thickening of the surrounding skin," says New York City dermatologist Francesca Fusco. Then make sure you always apply an anti-aging eye cream. If retinol is too strong, consider peptides (try Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum or Philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough A.M. Firming Serum) or Baumann's current favorite ingredient for the eye area, zinc (found in Relastin Eye Silk). "It's been shown to increase elastin production, which can reduce crepiness," she says.

14. Popping Zits
We know, we know: It's tempting. But the reality is that squeezing a pimple just pushes bacteria deeper into the pores, causing inflammation, infection, and scarring—and almost doubling the zit's life span (from about one week to two). Napalming it with the harshest chemicals in the bathroom won't help, either. "Treating any breakout with too much benzoyl peroxide damages the skin around the spot and can cause more irritation," says Boston dermatologist Jeffrey Dover. Here's what you should do: Use a spot treatment with no more than 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide at night, and reapply it to major zits in the morning. Try Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment. For persistent acne, a prescription retinoid, such as Retin-A, helps prevent blocked pores—but doctors warn it can exacerbate the redness of existing pimples, so avoid slathering it over full-blown ones.

15. Skipping the Gym
Along with lifting your mood, exercise increases blood flow to the skin, causing a healthy-looking flush. Both immediately and over time, it has been shown to decrease tension, which can result in better skin. "When you're stressed, cortisol levels rise, and that leads to acne and other skin aggravations," says Rodan. "Lessen your cortisol spikes, and your skin will become smoother and clearer." (Of course, you should wash your face immediately after that workout.)

16. Tanning
Bronzer? Fine. Self-tanner? Fine. The real thing? So not fine. "In trying to protect itself from continued exposure to the sun, skin thickens and produces melanin, the pigment that darkens cells," explains Miami dermatologist Flor Mayoral. "Any pigment change from UVA or UVB light can cause premature aging and increase the likelihood of skin cancer." And tanning beds can be even worse, since they emit concentrated UVA light, which penetrates deeper than the combination of UVA and UVB rays found in sunlight, Mayoral says. (Indeed: They've recently been considered to be on par with arsenic and mustard gas in the top cancer risk category.) Be sure to protect yourself by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 every day, and if you're in the sun, reslather it every two hours. And never, ever use a tanning bed. Instead, try a self-tanner from the St. Tropez collection. Can't find a sunscreen you like? Check out our favorites from our Best of Beauty issue.

17. Overloading on Products
"I ask patients to walk me through their routine, and they bring in shopping bags full of products," says New York City dermatologist Patricia Wexler. "They add things without checking to see whether they're duplicating ingredients or realizing that some aren't compatible." Sometimes, active ingredients cancel one another out—Other times, they double up and cause irritation or skin damage. "Negative interactions are most likely to happen if someone is treating different problems at the same time, such as sun-damaged skin and adult acne, and the ingredients are either too harsh together or incompatible," says Baumann. The biggest culprits: retinol, glycolic acid (aka AHA's), vitamin C, and benzoyl peroxide—avoid layering them, or at least try to use them at different times of day.

5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

You guys should really read this. This is really interesting. I really like the Second one. Opening your car through your phone is just cool. ^^. But I dunno if the rest can really work here in Malaysia though. It seems they originally tried this in the US. Anyways, it is a very useful tips for all...if it really works though. Give it try if you like.

FIRST (Emergency)
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND (Locked Keys in Car)
Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!'

THIRD (Hidden Battery Power)
Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

FOURTH (How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?)
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone:
*#06#.
A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. If your phone is stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
And Finally....

FIFTH (Free Directory Service for Cells)
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial:
(800) FREE411 or (800) 373-3411

Losing weight tipS???

Got some tips to lose some weight somewhere, dunno if it'll work, but at least I might give it a shot ^^

1. Cut out soda from your diet - hummm...don't mind leaving sodas off my diet...that's what people keep saying...plus I can be save some of my money too ^^

2. Substitute foods instead of eliminating them - i've been substituting food for as long as i can remember. Like I would eat whole-grain biscuits to replace all the heavy food like rice and stuff.

3. Never crash diet to lose weight - I always do this though...LOL. Like I would suddenly stop eating if I got something coming up in the next few weeks. It works for me coz I'm used to it I guess ^^

4. Don't overeat - that pretty easy isn't it. But believe me, its hard to not overeat when food is non-stop appearing in your table and fridge and most importantly....it free...huhu.

5. Healthy diet and moving around - that's sounds pretty easy enough right. NOT!!!! if it were that easy, everybody would be as slim as Kate Moss!!! Anyhow, it does makes sense and moving around here and there is no problem as long as it can help right.

Gentle remindeR

Just a gentle reminder to whoever happens to come across this blog of mine. What i do with my life is my own right. It has got nothing to do with you. So, if you got any problem with that, well you can take it and shove it up your *** ^^.

This whole week have been such a mess, mood-swings to be exact. I've been down for lots of reasons and im trying to be optimist and keep myself happy. But there are just some things or someone out there that's determined to messed-up my life!!! Whatever. Not my problem.........................................

Things to look forward to...........just install a new game called Singularity. Games always make me feel happy. Playing games could make me forget my problems (at least for a while) and keeps me happy. Though i would suffer from backache from playing for hours...huhu. Anyways, just played the game for a couple of hours. So far i kinda like it. It's a 1st person kinda game. Which i don't personally like actually. But what the heck. As long as there are monster in it, i'll like it ^^
I'll probably do a review on it after i finished playing it.

haven't got this weapon yet. but it looks cool ^^

......................................................also, things to look forward to, i'll be going back home this week for the raya holiday. Yayyyyyyyyyyy. Haven't gone back to Sabah in months. Miss it a lot, my family and my best friend too. Oh...what i really looking forward too is i was thinking of making new tattoo on my back. I'm designing it right now and i'll ask my little brother to do it for me. He just opened a tattoo shop, called Hiroshi Ink or something, and i will definitely ask him to do it for free....WAHAHAHAHAHA (evil laugh)

Things to NOT look forward to.........one of the things that really bothers me this week is that i have to move again, i've mentioned this before. I have to move to one of the hostel in UTM, which i really really really do not like. At all. I've been moving my stuff there throughout this week. This day will be the last day im staying in this house...huhu..sob sob. And i still got lots of things to move to that room...sigh much! Including my huge-coffin-like luggage and my 'tilam'. And yes, i will be bring my 'tilam' as well. Like hell im gonna leave it in this house. I bought it for like RM 86 or something. What a waste to just leave it right ^^

Worst month eveR

Hai guys. Well...i am totally bored and was just thinking...how horrible this month has been for me. The only way i can describe it is... ARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
It just sucks with capital S!!! Seriously! This month my bad luck seems to be amplified 100 times over. I dunno what i did wrong. But it seems like the universe is kicking my ass. I know this month supposedly to be a good month for others since it is the fasting month and it Merdeka for Malaysia and all. But still! This month is the suckiest (it that even a word) ever!!! I have never have bad things happen to me this much AND continuously!!! OMG!!! I feel like i could die from all that. I'm no gonna tell in details coz it is really embarrassing =(

The first thing that really bother is...well...this is not really a bad luck thing...but since it requires a lot of my money...the i would say its a bad thing. Anyways, i have to renew my road tax this month. The raodtax is not the problem, but the insurance for my car. I thought that the this two thing was supposedly lessen by the year (dunno where i got that idea from). Which is so disappointing coz i cost me a thousand plus. Which is sucks! But...that i can handle. Coz i kinda have to do that anyways. The bad luck that hit me was when i was on my way to renew the roadtax! Bloody hell!!! There was a road block, and of course i dindn't know. As i pass by the road block, the officer told me to stop and to the side of the road. I was confused. I thought they were just checking or something. But instead, that ugly officer told me that i have drove over a zebra cross...and that it was wrong. Like....WTH!!! What zebra cross??? Where??? Coz i was sure i didn't run over a zebra cross. And that ugly person told me the fine would be RM 200. Again...WTH!!! It's like i just break a major rule, like i killed someone (well the fine will be greater though), like i was driving 240 km/h, like i was driving like a mad mad and doing drift all over the place!!! WTF!!! And you know what, the worse part is, that ugly-for-a-face traffic police ask me for money to let this thing go. OK. I've heard about this stuff from my friends and i never actually thought that i could happen to me. I said i didn't have money, and that i am a student, and i was about to renew my roadtax, so i don't have much money. I said i could give him around RM 20. But he insisted that i gave him RM 50 or he'll just give me the summons. I really don't know what to do that time, i was confused, blur, and panicked at the same time. So i just gave him the money, RM 50. Now i was willing to just let it go until he said, "lambat la kau ni, apa ar". Like...OMG...i feel like i wanna smash his head on the spot. He just took my money, asking me for a bribe, and he dare to said that to me!!! So much for "mencegah rasuah" right. And he was supposedly fasting. Who knows. I just hoped that if he used my money to buy anything, food or whatever, it'll bite him back in his bloody-ugly-ass!!!

Another major bad luck that happened to me also involving my car (damn Neo!!! what did i ever did to you!!!).
Uhhhh...i'm not sure if i wanna write about this coz this is really annoying and it makes me hate certain kinds of people more!!! So i should keep this to myself for a while.

This is not it though, there are lots more shitty things like i have to move. Yet again. This is like the second time i
move already...huhu =(
I'll be moving to the hostel in UTM. And what pissed me off was that my room is in the 6th floor. That's like the highest place of living i ever lived. What's worse is the moving part. All of my accumulated stuff for the pass 5 years are still with me and i have to carry everything to that 6th floor. Like i could have a serious bone malfunction from that...huhu. Plus, the room is just horrible. The pain in some part of the room are peeling off. Ewwwww...its like in the movie Silent Hill, where the wall are peeling off and monster comes out of it. So gross!!!

And since i'll be living in that hostel, i can't dye my hair anymore and have to keep my hair short. Nightmare much!!!!

Anyways, i just hope this month ends soon and with that all the bad luck that's been following me this whole time.

PEACE and enjoy your holiday guys (^_^) <3

MerdekA

Happy 53rd Independence Day Malaysia (^_^)

Proud to be Malaysian...enjoy the day guys <3

Crazy but scary thoughT

every time i do my business...

the one thing that always went through my mind is...

this thing coming out of the toilet and bite me in the TUTTTTT (T_T)
why oh why....huhuhuhuhu....

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

This is the MAC Studio Fix Foundation. i bought it a few weeks ago and tried it a couple of times now. There're some that i like about it and there are some that i hate. To start with the pros, it gives a good coverage. It's good enough to cover most of my blemishes. And it could last for hours and it matches with my skin tone quite well. Anyways...that's pretty much what i like about it though ^^....so much for pros rite...lol. The things that i most hate about it is it easily comes off or rubs off to anything. I really hate that especially when i'm wearing white shirt...my shirt always have the residue of it and that white shirt that i'm wearing in the photo, also suffer that terrible fate. Other thing is that it's quite greasy and somewhat oily. My skin is already oily as it it...so i try to find things that won't give my skin more oily. That's why i ONLY when i go out in public at night. During the day i have other foundation that i could use. I might show it later on.

That's about it though. Even with all the cons (maybe just for me, it may work differently on others), i still use it coz i love the coverage it can give ^^.

p/s: i know its kinda weird for a guy to use a foundation. But in my defense, i have a very damaged and flawed face. I had a serious acne problem since i was in secondary school. I'm trying my best to fix my face now though...but i will take times. But until then, i just need to cover it up coz going in public like that is just embarrassing. So don't judge me for it. PeacE ^^

Love the fashion, lifestyle, and i simply just enjoy it. i actually have been watching the series since i was in school. i know people keeps saying it is more to the ladies...but at least give it a shot. it's funny too. though there some 18sx elements in it, that's actually what makes it funny ^^
i like the scene when all four of the get together and eat and do stuff. they are most funny when they are all together.
i like samantha coz she's notty, i like carrie coz she's fashionable, i like charlotte coz she's classy and i like miranda coz she's professional~

1st Post: Intro

Hello everyone ^^

This is my first post for my very own blog. Just started a blog coz I always thought of making a blog for such a long time now...and since I'm always online...so what the hack. I'll just give it a shot.

Like I said, I'm new to this...so bare with me if its boring or what not.

This is kinda like and introduction to the kind of blog that I'll be doing. I'll be using this blog to express and shows to everybody what's going on in my life...it's my own thing...so it's got nothing to do with anything nor anyone out there...dead or alive...it's just my thought and things revolving around me.

So...I'm looking forward how this blog will turn out and I hope you too <(^_^)>
